Duo Clash · last updated 8 October 2026

Duo Clash is an app where two people, a couple or best friends, pair their phones and play games together on a video call. This page says exactly what happens to your information, in plain language. There is no advertising, no tracking, and nothing is sold to anybody.

Your video and voice

Calls go straight between your two phones, encrypted from one to the other. When your networks don't allow a direct connection, the call is passed through a relay run by Cloudflare; it stays encrypted on the way, so the relay cannot see or hear it. We never record, store, listen to or analyse your calls, and neither does anyone else. Our server only introduces the two phones to each other.

Your account

To play, you make a profile with a name and a face: a drawn avatar, a Memoji sticker, or a photo you pick. A sticker or photo is cropped small and kept on our server so your duo can see it. There is no email, phone number or password; your phone keeps a private key to your profile in its Keychain.

Pairing and playing

When you pair with someone, our server keeps what the two of you share: that you are paired, your weekly scoreboard, your recent matches, and any stakes you set (like "loser plans the next date"). During a game, your moves, and the words and answers you type, go to our server, which runs the game for both phones.

Checking words

In word games, a word or answer may be checked by an AI service, through our server, to see if it counts. Only the word and the game's language are sent, never your name, your profile or anything that identifies you. We use Typesafe and OpenRouter for this. We keep a list of words already checked so the same word isn't checked twice; it holds no names.

Showing who's online

To show when your duo has the app open, the app uses Epic Online Services with a random identifier made on your device. Epic is not given your name, your face or anything you say.

Notifications

If you allow them, we send notifications through Apple, for example when your duo opens a game or calls you. For this we keep your device's notification token.

Subscriptions

Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card or your Apple Account. To keep track of whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat: it receives your purchase history from Apple together with your Duo Clash account's random ID, and nothing else about you, not your name or your picture.

Reports and blocking

You can report or block someone from the app. A report keeps who reported whom, the reason, any note you add, and the reported name and picture as they were, so we can review it. Blocking someone unpairs you and keeps you from pairing or playing again.

Where it's kept, and for how long

Our server runs with Hetzner in Finland. Your profile and your pairing are kept until you unpair or delete your account. Server logs, which include IP addresses for security and to stop abuse, are kept only for a short time. Backups are kept for 14 days.
